A federated Media Commons — like Wikipedia's, but forkable. One wiki page per archived file, named by its content address, carrying the asset, its provenance, and the way to fetch the original. Part of the Anarchive Media Plan.
## One Page per File
The Wikipedia `File:` precedent: every file gets a page named by its filename, however ugly. Here the slug is the Filename Convention name minus its extension, and the page is the JSON sidecar rendered — a standard video item playing the asset, source and license, a summary link back to the research page, pin locations across the ring and Homebase, and fetch instructions. The Outpost writes it at archive time — the pipeline's last step.
## The Caption Link
Archive output is a stock `video` item, so it works on any wiki with no plugin installed. Its caption ends with a link to the file's commons page — a standard wiki page, not an API:

## Ugly Names, Honest Pages
Title equals slug — interop first. These pages are reached by direct `.html` URLs, so the broken-wikilink concern never bites; commons indexes link by `[url label]`, not wikilink. The Media Plugin, when installed, relabels the displayed title to the human name carried in the page's metadata — progressive enhancement, conventions intact for everyone else.
## Permissions
The clip plays for anyone — ring-pinned, any gateway serves it. The high-resolution original is Homebase-pinned and gated; the commons page tells you how to ask. The mechanism — an auth-gated gateway or a social request flow — is an open question, not a decision.
## Federated
Any archive site following the convention is a commons peer: the caption always links to the archiving site's own commons page, commons pages fork like any wiki page, and the CID resolves anywhere. The commons is not a place — it is a naming discipline plus the federation.
